Statement

For Gabriel Silva, the divine resides in nature. His beliefs align with Greek mythology, which defined elemental beings as creative and protective geniuses of the earth, water, air, and fire. Elves, gnomes, fairies, undines, naiads, and fauns have been part of the artist's imagination. From the beginning, he has found literature to be an endless source of inspiration. Likewise, cinema, the history of painting, technique, the compositions of artists like El Bosco and Brueghel the Elder, and in the contemporary art landscape, the work of Neo Rauch and Moebius, among many others, have been influential.
Painting is the backbone of his artistic process. In his paintings, the images that later transform into sculptures and ceramic objects emerge. Silva has created his own visual language in which he conceives dreamlike universes from his imagination. His unique use of color on canvas contributes to creating the atmosphere of unknown worlds with enigmatic figures that invite the viewer to immerse themselves in a profound dreamlike dimension.
