Santiago Paredes and Carolina Sardi at JW Marriott Miami Hotel
Pinta Miami has partnered with the JW Marriott Miami Hotel to organize a Pop-Up featuring Santiago Paredes and Carolina Sardi.
Santiago Paredes' works are a fusion of dissimilar yet complementary worlds, revolving around the cult and use of everyday objects. His scenes consist of multiple references, appropriations, and simulations in dialogue with the history of images. Like a domino effect, each layer used creates a mix of content, frivolity, neoclassicism, and ambiguity.
Paredes invites us to reflect on the possibility of composition not from a material instrument but from the images he traces, captures, and appropriates from various sources such as the internet, advertising posters, used books, and brochures. Any representation code can encapsulate the minimal and necessary meaning to evoke one of his paintings. Analogous to a book, his works can be thought of in the same way—first designed and then printed.
Santiago Paredes' works are characterized by a constant: the transition from the two-dimensional to the three-dimensional, from the virtual to the physical, and from the public world to the private world. In this way, each element that makes up the artist's work acts as a minimal expression of meaning, accentuating the singular beauty of each object to enhance our ability to see new forms.
After Tatlin's Tower, Naum Gabo's geometric-inverted experiments, Duchamp's ready-mades, Pevsner's mobile forms, and Brancusi's bird, 20th-century sculpture rushed towards different horizons. Materials changed, bringing forth new accompanying ideas. Marble, bronze, and wood gave way to steel, plastic, concrete, fabric, wax, and polyester. The surrealism of Noguchi, Arp, and Bourgeois softened forms; the pop art of Oldenburg, Arman, Segal, and Christo made those forms our everyday bread.
The '80s and '90s brought more breadth to isolated gestures in the desert of Land Art. Ecological art and the hybrid nature of installation became fashionable. Today, in the full dawn of the 21st century, sculpture is as free as any artistic expression: everything is allowed, any material is possible. But, what to do with such freedom? The Sutras warn, go deep within yourself.
Carolina Sardi starts from that point. The art of this young Argentine sculptor is diverse, abstract, geometric, with fluid craftsmanship—sometimes even biomorphic. There is a flavor in her pieces and installations that leads us to the conceptual, even the ideological. Her signs point towards introspection. Sardi always seeks internal themes.

About the Artists
Carolina Sardi:
Carolina Sardi is an Argentinean sculptor established in Miami since 1995. She earned her master’s degree in Sculpture at the National University of La Plata in her country. She also studied Architecture and Urbanism at the same University and Sculpture with the artist Enio Iommi.
She has a broad experience in designing, fabricating and installing public, private and corporate art projects. Some examples of commissioned works include Miami-Dade Art in Public Places, Port of Miami, Baggage Claim Wall Sculptures (2003); Oppenheim Architecture, Ilona Building Fence and Gate, Miami Beach (2001); Related Group of Florida, Icon Building Miami Beach Sculptures for the lobby area (2005); Gates, Fence, Louvers and Lamps for the Apogee Beach Building in Hollywood, FL (2014); Icon Bay Fence for Sculpture Park (2015) in Miami for the Related Group of Florida); Cleveland Clinic Wall Installations, Cleveland, OH and Broward County, FL (2015-2016) and Prudential Corporate Collection Wall Sculpture, Des Moines, IA (2020)

They can be found in the collections of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve and Art Museum of the Americas in Washington DC, Museum of Art of Fort Lauderdale, Miami Dade Art in Public Places, The Related Group of Florida, Cleveland Clinic Collection and Heico Corporation, among others.

Santiago Paredes
Santiago Paredes was born in 1988 in Buenos Aires, where he lives and works. He studied music, multimedia arts (UNA) and participated in clinics and workshops with Fabián Burgos, Nahuel Vecino, Sebastián Bruno, Andrés Sobrino, among others; he was also assistant to artist Daniel Scheimberg, main mentor in his training as a painter.
He had solo exhibitions at Revolver Galería - Lima (2022), C.C. Recoleta - Bs.As. (2022), Moria Galería - Bs.As. (2022/ 2019), Samara Contemporary - Toronto (2020); and Mundo Dios - Mar del Plata, Arg (2018). He participated in group shows in Miami (Tomás Redrado Art - 2023; One Thousand Museum - 2021), Madrid (Kreisler Gallery - 2020) and Buenos Aires (CC de España - 2023; Moria Galería - 2020; Fundación Lebhenson - 2016, among others). He has participated in art fairs in Barcelona, Santiago de Chile, Buenos Aires and CDMX. In 2019 he was selected as a juror in Visual Arts for the Metropolitan Fund and in 2021 he was distinguished by the Espronceda Award - residency and solo show in Barcelona. He also participated in the following awards: FNA Visual Arts Competition (2018 and 2019), Itaú Award (2021), OSDE Foundation Award (2021).
