In its new home, the Rubell Museum presents groundbreaking exhibitions of contemporary art drawn from its collection of 7,000 works by more than 1,000 artists. Located on a 100,000 square-foot campus, the former industrial building was transformed by Selldorf Architects.

Art Basel Cities: Buenos Aires in Miami Beach official opening of the outdoor exhibition featuring large-scale works by an intergenerational group of Argentine artists, including Matias Duville, Graciela Hasper, Marie Orensanz, Pablo Reinoso, Marcela Sinclair, and Agustina Woodgate. The selection was led by Florencia Battiti, curator of the Argentine pavilion at the 2019 Venice Biennale and head curator at Parque de la Memoria – Monumento a las Víctimas del Terrorismo de Estado, and Diana Wechsler, an Argentine art historian, researcher, and critic at Universidad de Tres de Febrero.

Curated by José Roca, the exhibition ‘Time for Change: Art and Social Unrest in the Jorge M. Pérez Collection’ uses art to explore conflicts and contradictions of contemporary society and analyzes historical events to reframe them within the present. Including works by Michelangelo Pistoletto, Doris Salcedo, Fernando Bryce, William Kentridge, Glenda Leon, Kara Walker, and Carlos Garaicoa, among many others.

MOCA NOMI PRESENTS A PERFORMANCE BY CECILIA VICUÑA (770 NE 125th St, North Miami, Fl 33161)

Cecilia Vicuña: About to Happen: Participatory improvisational performance by the artist, the creation of a living quipu. Inspired by the ancient Andean tradition of “talking knots,” the living quipu will celebrate tactile knowledge and interconnections across the cosmos. This performance is a dynamic form of storytelling in which unspun wool and language weave a vibrant matrix of connections and possibility.

  

10:45 am – 11:30 am at MOCA Pavilion Gallery Following the collective performance, unpack ideas and contexts informing the artist’s process in a conversation between Vicuña and exhibition co-curators Andrea Andersson and Julia Bryan-Wilson.
